A few days ago, passersby noticed an emotionally distressed woman in Xiangyang city ready to throw herself into Han River. Fortunately, they were able to rescue the young lady and take her to the police station where officers and reporters were in for one strange tale.
“None of you can save me, you can only find him, if you have any compassion, you will help me find him,” the young girl, who called herself Xiao Yun told police. To their surprise, Xiao Yun, in her twenties, was searching for a man surnamed Liu who she said was over 50 years old, NetEase reports.
She said that it was because of him that she wanted to kill herself. The two had met at a local market where Xiao Yun, a migrant, worked. Though he could easily be her father, Xiao Yun says that she didn’t care what society or her family might think, she thought they were good together and Liu made her feel like she was at home. Anyway, Liu had already gotten divorced years ago, so there was nothing standing in the couple’s way.
Xiao Yun told reporters that Liu said he would marry her; however, she started to find it harder and harder to believe over time. Around Spring Festival this year, he suddenly became indifferent toward her, avoiding her without any explanation. In complete despair, Xiao Yun told her old man that she was ready to throw herself into the river. Still, Liu did not reply. So, Xiao Yun left for the riverside. She tried to call Liu one last time, but still he did not answer.
After hearing this strange tale, police decided to investigate, the first thing they discovered managed to shock them even more. It turns out that the Liu was not in his fifties as Xiao Yun had claimed, but was in fact 69 years old.
Eventually, the police were able to get in contact with Liu, who said that Xiao Yun’s suicide attempt was just a way to cheat him out of his money. He said he had never liked the girl in the first place, but eventually conceded to meeting with her again one last time.
