Yet again, Shanghai has reaffirmed its position as the best city in China… at least for foreigners.
For the fourth time in six years, a survey conducted by the International Talent Magazine and the China Society for Research on International Professional Personnel Exchange and Development (yup, good ole CSRIPPED), has named Shanghai as the most “attractive” city for expats in China, at a conference in Shenzhen over the weekend, People’s Daily reports.
Over a five-month period, the survey polled 48,000 expats, asking them to rate each city according to categories like living environment, work environment, political environment and policies for foreign professionals.
In case you care about the losers, here’s the top ten:
10) Jinan (shout out!)
This survey marks a much-needed victory for Shanghai which has managed to get numerous “1’s” in recent rankings, but not #1’s. Shanghai recently ranked 11th in cost of living worldwide, but 101st in liveability. So that’s not great.
Additionally, it came in at 24th place in congestion last year and 5th place in billionaires this year, but it was ranked as the most expensive city for expats in Asia. So we got that going for us.
We can only assume that now that the shopping mall super slide is (almost) open to the public. Our top spot is assured for years to come.
