These photos of a dreamy “European-style campus” in Sichuan are turning Chinese college students green with envy. Red bricks, arch gates, pristine pavement and a fairytale-esque design, what more could you want from an educational environment? Oh, that’s right, segways!
According to China News, these pictures were snapped at the celebrated Sichuan Southwest Vocational College of Civil Aviation, a college that trains flight attendants, pilots, security guards and aircraft technicians. Costing around 1 billion RMB to build, the school opened last year in Chengdu.
There is yet more luxury inside the buildings. With high ceilings, chandeliers, French windows, elegant furnishings and grand pianos, the school aims to make students feel like they’re studying in a 5-star palace, rather than a filthy dorm room.
On the college’s website, it refers to itself as “The most beautiful university in China.” Take that Xiamen University!
If it is not the most beautiful, it is certainly the best publicized. Every few months, the school releases pictures of its elite student body. To train to be a flight hostess or host at the college, you need to be good looking and at least 163cm tall if you’re a woman and 174cm if you are a man. Meanwhile, males can neither look too “feminine,” nor too “tough” and intimidating — even when they are dispatching onboard security threats.
“Drop the cup of noodles!”
Here’s some more pics of the student, in case you are interested in attending:
They even have a mermaid in residence:
But be warned, admissions tests can be quite demanding:
