16 tourists were trapped in everyone’s worst nightmare on Monday when the rollercoaster that they were riding came to a sudden halt, 70 meters above the ground.
The problem occurred on a coaster at a Wanda theme park in Nanchang city, Jiangxi province. Passengers waited for 20 minutes for workers to come get them; they were then informed that would have to walk back down. Workers unhooked their harnesses and they then made their way down a narrow staircase back to the safety of solid ground.
According to CCTV, the rollercoaster’s brake system was triggered when an abnormal signal was detected. It was probably a damn bird.
At least that’s what triggered a sensor at Beijing’s Happy Valley Amusement Park in March, leaving riders hanging upside for a thrilling 20 minutes. But hey, it could always be worse, at least they didn’t get stranded for two hours, like these unlucky tourists in Changzhou.
Hey, only like 6 weeks until Shanghai Disneyland opens for real!
