Love the taste of the Colonel’s “Original Recipe” chicken, but worried about gaining too much weight? Boy, have we got some fortuitous news for you, weirdo.
After having already conquered robotics, Tibet and 8-legged chicken rumors, KFC is now moving into the nail care business in Hong Kong with a new line of edible nail polishes that purport to capture the flavor of KFC’s secret recipe chicken in two variations: Original and Hot and Spicy. Never again, will you have to wonder if KFC really is “finger lickin’ good.”
In this PR stunt of the month, KFC Hong Kong has teamed up with marketing company Ogilvy & Mather Group. Earlier this week, they released a promotional music video that’s just… well… just watch it:
So far reviews have been somewhat mixed, with commenters worrying about the social and health implications of people walking around sucking on their fingernails. Observers have also wondered,”WHY?”
Well, according to Ogilvy & Mather this is yet another effort by KFC to appeal to the younger generation, in case they somehow aren’t won over by the robots.
For better and worse, it does appear to taste like chicken. “Original is actually pretty cute for spring, if, you know, it didn’t taste like fried chicken,” Glamour writes.
“I wanna get this for my fiance because he’s a vegetarian and bites his nails. Do they have a clear coat by chance?” commented one Facebook user, via CCTV News.
Anyway, once again, this kind of outside-the-bun thinking is why China wants its KFC — with a consortium backed by China Investment Corporation (CIC), the country’s sovereign wealth fund responsible for investing from national currency reserves, announcing last month that it is interested in buying Yum China.
