On the opening day of “Warcraft” at a Wanda Cinema in Fuzhou, one young man was spotted with two tickets — one for him and one for his girl… who happened to be a blow-up doll.
A netizen snapped some pictures of the happy couple and the images have since gone viral on Chinese social media, with web users speculating about their relationship.
“The young man is afraid that people will try to grab his girlfriend, so he purposefully gives her the edge seat, now that is true love,” commented one netizen.
“Why didn’t you give the doll a pair of 3D glasses??” wondered another.
“Nice seats. Bet he’s going to get some tonight,” another web user wrote in.
Meanwhile, other netizens have helpfully pointed out that the man’s companion is not in fact a blow-up doll, but a much more expensive silica gel variety that most “diaosi” (losers) can’t afford.
Either way, it’s thanks to viewers like these two that “Warcraft” earned an estimated $8.4 million in midnight screenings in China yesterday, shattering the all-time record at the Chinese box office. It then went on to earn $45.8 million on its opening day in China, besting the domestic blockbuster Stephen Chow’s “The Mermaid.”, but falling short of Furious 7’s $63 million record.
