Generally speaking, wheelchairs create more benefits than harm. It has enabled one man to journey across China, traveling 2,800 km in 566 days, and allowed this romantic boyfriend to take his girlfriend on a heart-shaped tour around the country.
However, wheelchair accidents can happen when people don’t follow the rules. The overly concerned and considerate family of one patient thoughtfully brought a wheelchair into the room of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner at Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital.
Here was the result:
The scanner was still on standby mode and unsurprisingly, the wheelchair was sucked up by the magnetic field, narrowly missing the patient, who is thankfully unharmed.
Netizens were shocked by the incident and speculated that the repair costs will be 3 million RMB.
Officials from the hospital quickly debunked the large sum and stated that they have not asked the family to pay anything.
Furthermore, they conducted checks and made repairs before concluding that the machine is fine and will resume operation tomorrow. However, future patients should be extra vigilant with metal objects.
