CCTV footage has emerged of a grandmother from Heilongjiang fighting back two kidnappers who attempted to steal her 4-year-old grandson.
According to ifeng, the incident took place in Harbin at 5:05 p.m. on July 6. While the grandmother was taking the 4-year-old boy home from school, two men in their 30s appeared and tried to snatch the boy. She held tight to the boy and tried to shout for help.
She later recalled that one of the kidnappers had asked her for directions earlier in the day, possibly while scouting out a potential target.
Surveillance footage shows that the two would-be kidnappers had been following the woman and her grandchild and had earlier made two failed attempts to covertly grab the boy.
One of the kidnappers can be seen grinning as he flees from the scene, possibly amused at how their plot had been foiled by one determined granny.
Child abduction and trafficking is sadly very common in China. Just last month a 1-year-old child was taken from his home by kidnappers, leading netizens to call for the death penalty for those found guilty of trafficking.
