Good at singing ≠ good at performing. Kris Wu, the former Chinese member of Korean singing group EXO, got criticized by both Chinese and Korean movie goers for his poor performance in the recently released “Never Gone”.
The Chinese movie “So Young 2: Never Gone” is a sequel to the 2013 movie “So Young“. The movie earned 70 million yuan on its July 8 opening day, going on to earn over 2,500 million yuan that week, but leading actor Kris Wu has been ridiculed for his terrible acting.
According to Koreaboo, Wu’s kissing scene with his co-star Liu Yifei allegedly stood out for viewers, who commented that instead of kissing someone, he looked like he was “eating something.”
Wu was accused of “overacting” and fans found most of his facial expressions in the movie very funny. Critics even said that Wu is the worst actor Liu has ever co-starred with. Liu herself is also known as a poor performer despite her good looks and charm. One girl spent thousands of yuan to go under the knife in order to better resemble Liu.
Speaking to reporters, Zhou said, “I have expected some criticism, but I also believe there should be some positive voices to lead our movie market. We are working hard to make better Chinese movies. Just as the armless Venus, nobody has ever judged its imperfection.”
