“The Happiest 5k on the Planet,” is back for another go in Shanghai and you can register now to get all colorful and sweaty come September.
The Color Run was founded in March 2011 as a race to promote a healthy and happy lifestyle. The race is untimed and geared toward having fun rather than competing. All contestants are asked to wear white or light-shaded clothing to race. At each kilometer, they will be doused from head to toe in an array of colorful paint.
Afterwards there will be massive beach party and all the runners will receive a custom t-shirt, headband and medal.
So far, The Color Run has been hosted in 40 different countries and finally came to Shanghai in 2014. Last year, Shanghai Oriental Sports Center pulled out from hosting the event in the wake of a “party powder” explosion at a Taiwan water park that year that left one person dead and nearly 500 more injured.
This year’s run will be held at the Sunland Green in Pudong on September 24 and 25th. Registration opened earlier today. Entry will cost you 208 RMB for the “classic kit” or 268 RMB for the “deluxe kit,” which comes with a flower hair clip and water bottle.
You can sign up for all the fun on The Color Run’s website.
