Chinese swimmer Sun Yang can certainly attest that losing in an Olympic event is a heartbreaking experience, but what could be worse? Well, mistakenly thinking that you won the event, celebrating for 2 glorious seconds, and then realizing you in fact did not.
Lü Bin, a Chinese boxer, competed against Peter Warui, a Kenyan boxer, in the Men’s Light Fly 46 to 49 kg preliminaries yesterday. Right after the match, Lü seemed fairly confident that he had totally won.
Just look at how excited he is about winning!
It was a close match, but Lü lost in a 2-1 decision, Sina reports. However, CCTV hypothesizes that there is a conspiracy among the judges to bring down China. They even filmed a video asking spectators who they thought had won the match.
Lü later posted on his Weibo account with the caption: “The judges stole my dream.” That post has received over 300,000 likes and 200,000 comments, most of which believe the fight was fixed. “In our hearts, you are the champion,” reads one of the top comments.
