While Fu Yuanhui wasn’t feeling too well towards the end of the Olympic games, she appears to have recuperated and is thoroughly enjoying her time back in China. Besides going on a variety show and calling out to bachelors across the country, Fu also visited Shanghai Disneyland yesterday, alongside an unnamed man. Ooh la la!
Good thing she didn’t visit a few week ago, when some rides were shut down unexpectedly. Disney has received quite a lot of bad publicity lately, thanks to uncivilized tourists trashing the grounds. Could China’s new sweetheart bring back some happiness to the supposed happiest place on earth?
Before she began her journey, Fu posted a mirror selfie to her Weibo account, where she now has 6.8 million followers, with the caption: “I think I got skinnier, omg I’m so skinny,” accompanied by multiple emojis. Damn, people obviously know that Olympians have hot bods, but Fu’s taking this to another level. Leave some fans for the rest of the athletes!
The Olympic swimmer is no stranger to live streaming and once again gave her fans a peek into her daily life by live streaming at Disney, Sina reports. During the live stream, she was questioned by eager fans. One asked if she is simply trying to act cute by making the peace sign in a lot of her pictures. To that, Fu quickly replied that she’s not trying to act cute, but is actually an aloof person. Clearly.
Furthermore, fans asked about philanthropic activities. “I won’t donate money, only materials. With money, it’s easy for people to embezzle or use it for their own benefit. For charity, I will buy anything, money is not a problem. I just need to personally see goods donated,” she said.
In addition to having fun, fans questioned her about her future career and wished that she would win many medals in the future. But Fu’s perspective was quite different, hoping to “be herself,” with medals or without. Later on Weibo, she related Disney to her athletic career:
I watched Lion King when I was a kid and loved the movie, literally watching it once a day. This is because I always thought of myself as a lion, and my dream was to one day have ferocious teeth like a lion. Like Simba, I will face many obstacles and hardships in life, but i will also meet friends and mentors in the process. Ultimately, I will become the King in my country.
This wasn’t the first time that Fu has been compared to Disney characters. Unfortunately for her, netizens originally did not see her as Simba. A couple weeks ago, netizens made memes of her adorable facial expressions, some featuring Disney princesses.
People who were at Disney and encountered Fu found out that it really is a small world after all. They posted on Weibo, expressing their excitement at meeting her.
Those that didn’t get to meet her, flocked to Fu’s Weibo account, praising her and showing their love for her.
