The bizarre and mystifying circus of former NBA legend Dennis Rodman’s visits to North Korea a few years ago made news around the world and remain one of the most memorably unexpected and unlikely events in recent memory. On his last couple of visits, culminating in the basketball match which he opened by singing an unplanned ‘Happy Birthday to You’ to Kim Jong-un, he was tailed by a British film crew who produced a fascinating documentary about the adventure – Dennis Rodman’s Big Bang in Pyongyang.
This coming Wednesday, watch the Shanghai premiere of the film Variety called “deftly constructed, consistently engrossing and frequently flat-out-hilarious” at The Apartment on Yongfu Road. You’ll meet Koryo Tours’ Simon Cockerell who helped get the film made, and get to ask him questions you may have about the film, and about his many experiences in North Korea over 150 trips taken in the past 15 years.
