Last Saturday, villagers outside of Fuzhou were witness to a glamorous wedding featuring a beautiful bride and groom — and 6 million yuan in cash.
The groom, surnamed Chen, is the son of a wealthy local entrepreneur who has made a fortune in real estate and footwear in Guangzhou. For the wedding, the Chen family decided to gift the family of the bride with a little spending money. Rather than simply make a bank transfer, they decided it would be best to present it to them in cash — piling up 12 knee-high stacks on the stage.
Meet the guest of honor:
Photos of the wedding have gone viral on Chinese social media.
Like any typical tuhao wedding, the couple was escorted to the wedding by a convoy of 7 luxury cars. According to villagers, there were 50 tables at the wedding for relatives, friends and locals. Some business friends also dropped by with hongbao stuffed full of 500 RMB each, Sina reports.
But really, while the method of presentation may be notable, is 6 million RMB really all that much? Earlier this year, another Fujian groom was rumored to have given 100 million yuan and a private jet to his bride-to-be.
