Two years ago, one infatuated Guangzhou guy bought 99 iPhone 6s to help to confess his love to his coworker, only to end up getting rejected. Last week, one Shenzhen guy’s proposal went a heck of a lot better, and he didn’t even buy a single iPhone.
Instead, the young man lured his girlfriend to an Apple store in Shenzhen with promises of buying her the new iPhone 7 she had wanted. However, once they arrived outside he got down on one knee and informed her that he didn’t have enough money to buy her the smartphone, because he had spent it all buying her a ring.
Apparently, the woman wasn’t too broken up about not getting Apple’s latest handset, and said yes.
Apple Daily reports that the two lovebirds are recent graduates and had been dating for seven years. Neither of them had much money. For years, the woman had been using an outdated domestic brand smartphone, so her boyfriend saved up for an entire year to buy her the new iPhone 7, but in the end thought of something better to do with the money.
Adorable as that may be, netizens have been more than a little skeptical about all the product placement in this latest grand proposal.
“Bullshit. This couple was obviously just hired by Xiaomi and Huawei,” one web user commented.
“So, is this ad for the iPhone 7 or is it an ad for Darry Ring?” commented another, referencing the popular brand of ring the guy had bought for his girl.
“Once they get home, the girl will say she wants an Iphone 7. After all: You promised to buy me one! Don’t go back on your word!”
