Shanghai Rolex Masters @ Qizhong Tennis Centre
The annual Shanghai Rolex Masters tennis tournament is back again from October 8th until October 16th. Will Novak Djokovic win this year again? Players will be competing for 4 million USD at the Minhang Qizhong Tennis Centre.

Shanghai French Week @ Yandang Road
Supported by the Consulate General of France in Shanghai, The annual Shanghai French Week showcases the art of French of living at the pedesterian of Yandang Road starting from October 10th to 16th. Established since 2002, it hosts for more than 300,000 visitors and exhibits authentic French foods such as pastries, chocolate, wine, cosmetics, textiles, card and more. There is also a photo exhibit by Chinese photographer Wang Zhi Ping called ”Romantic France”, who spent his life living abroad in France.

Moulin Rouge @ The Pearl
The Pearl movie night will present one of the most popular & glamorous musicals from Hollywood: Moulin Rouge! Food deal includes a cheese beef burger (150g), french fries and a beer for 78. Beyond the Bund @ Naked Hub

AJ Tracey @ The Shelter

Oktoberfest @ Tonglefang
The world’s biggest beer festival Oktoberfest may be coming to a close in its native Munich, but here in Shanghai, the party is just about to get started. So grab your dirndl and lederhosen and get ready to get properly sloshed at Germany brewery König Ludwig’s massive Oktoberfest party happening in Jing’an district’s Tonglefang complex from the 13th to 15th of October. Today, the event runs from 5pm – 10:30pm and tickets are ¥300 per person, or ¥2500 for tables (up to 10 people). Tickets include unlimited beer, soft drinks, appetizer and one traditional dish per person.

Experimental Burlesque Show @ The Pearl
Anna Fur Laxis & Ennis F.W. – the Evil Masterminds behind Qi-POW! Burlesque & Cabaret, have brought a new, stripped-down Thursday evening event to compliment their regular bi-monthly full-scale weekend extravaganzas to Shanghai. “The Laboratory” brings to The Pearl’s stage a sizzling mix of the city’s brightest emerging Burlesque, Cabaret talent along with Drag, Comedy, Song & Dance, with feature performances from the Qi-POW! cast. It’s anything goes as the Qi-POW! team & invited guests put their creativity, spunk, and sexiness on display. Happy hour and door opens at 5pm, show starts at 8pm and tickets are ¥50. Minhang Friday Market @ Community Centre Shanghai

JZ Festival @ Expo Park
JZ Music is proud to announce its 12th annual jazz festival in Shanghai Expo Park this October. Over the past decade, JZ Festival has grown to become the largest jazz festival in China. The theme for this year’s festival is “Get on your jazz way!”, aimed to inspire individuals to include jazz as part of their daily life. JZ Music continues their dedication to bringing the finest international and local musicians to the Chinese audience. This is a two day festival on Saturday and Sunday and tickets are ¥350 at the door.

Get ready to jump through fire, climb under barbed wire, crawl through mud, and scale walls at China’s first ever Spartan Race, happening this October 16th in Shanghai. Originating in the United States, the Spartan Race is the world leader in obstacle course racing and is not only a great way for athletes to compete against one another, but also a fun and exciting way to exercise. this is the first time the Spartan Race has ever been conducted in China, they’ll just be hosting Sprint events both in Shanghai and Beijing. Though this is the shortest of all the three course types, it still crams more than twenty obstacles into just over six kilometers (~3mi).
