I Will Be Your Eyes @ Art +
”I will be your eyes” at Art + Shanghai is a group exhibition that assembles pieces from 7 Chinese artists born in the nineties. Ongoing until October 23rd from Tuesdays to Sundays, these artists are trying to escape the only-child syndrome perspective that has plagued them. With internet and capitalism deeply intertwined in their everyday lives, many of the nineties babies (”jiu-ling-hou”) are growing into capable young professionals. These artists are able to put aside selfish materialism to focus on the conditions of the current society in China, hence this exhibition will be showcasing the unique introspections of the future members of China’s artistic community.

Live Jazz Night @ The 1515 West
Enjoy the comforting jazzy tunes of the 1515 West Bar’s latest jazz act, Hot Lips. Lead singer Nana Lee is featured and OJ is on the keyboard/ piano. Ongoing every Wednesday to Saturday from 7pm onwards, brand new cocktail menu drinks are also available.

Lost Opportunities @ Art Labor

For Art Labor’s fall art season opening exhibition, you will have the chance to see some of the new works of your favorite artists from previous shows and their classic artworks. A second chance to view works you may have missed, exceptional work by Hajime Sorayama, acquired from the Nanzuka Gallery in Tokyo, the famed designer of the Sony Robot ”Pet”, Aibo. Other key pieces on display is of Canadian über author and artist Douglas Coupland, and a massive painting never shown before in China by Lu Xinjian. A brand new ink painting on silk by Ying Yefu is also featured and a classic neo-Scandinavian piece by Danish artist Per Adolfsen.

China International Fashion Fair @ National Convention and Convention Center
The second edition of the China International Fashion Fair, CHIC Shanghai will be held from October 11th to 13th at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre. This platform enables fashion brands to present their new collections and the Chinese trade will have a better overview on exciting new looks from around the world. Vendors from kids’ wear, fashion accessories, fashion services to leather wear will be present. The event runs from 10am to 6pm.

Lost in Shanghai’s Film World @ Shanghai Film Museum
Shanghainese artist Li Shoubai is proud to present Lost in Shanghai’s Film World – exhibit showcasing around 100 of his work. This is by far the longest-running solo exhibit the artist has ever run. He will also showcase his painting and paper-cut works he has created over the past decade. Ongoing everyday until the end of October, the artist will be showcasing his most recent paintings, of which captures the city’s unique urban energy in the past and present. This exhibit attempts to recall the collective memories of the city’s past and evoke nostalgia in the audience. This event runs from 9am-5pm everyday and entry fee is ¥60.
