Oktoberfest @ Tonglefang
The world’s biggest beer festival Oktoberfest may be coming to a close in its native Munich, but here in Shanghai, the party is just about to get started. So grab your dirndl and lederhosen and get ready to get properly sloshed at Germany brewery König Ludwig’s massive Oktoberfest party happening in Jing’an district’s Tonglefang complex from the 13th to 15th of October. Today, the event runs from 5pm – 10:30pm and tickets are ¥300 per person, or ¥2500 for tables (up to 10 people). Tickets include unlimited beer, soft drinks, appetizer and one traditional dish per person.

Experimental Burlesque Show @ The Pearl
Anna Fur Laxis & Ennis F.W. – the Evil Masterminds behind Qi-POW! Burlesque & Cabaret, have brought a new, stripped-down Thursday evening event to compliment their regular bi-monthly full-scale weekend extravaganzas to Shanghai. “The Laboratory” brings to The Pearl’s stage a sizzling mix of the city’s brightest emerging Burlesque, Cabaret talent along with Drag, Comedy, Song & Dance, with feature performances from the Qi-POW! cast. It’s anything goes as the Qi-POW! team & invited guests put their creativity, spunk, and sexiness on display. Happy hour and door opens at 5pm, show starts at 8pm and tickets are ¥50. This show is not suitable for persons under 18.

KIDS N CATS @ Yuyintang
Electronic pop quartet from Vienna KIDS N CATS will be playing tonight at Yuyintang. Wild, colorful and chaotic, they fuse different music styles into one big harmonious whole of electronic beats and pop. Expect their top hits ”Tip Tip” and ”Juicy Worlds” tonight, tickets are ¥70 at the door.

Eco is the New Lux Forum @ URBN Hotel
Green Initiatives and eco-friendly brand Eco & More hosts a forum to discuss consumer buying decisions, and how they have the ability to influence the manufacturing industry and make an impact to the environment. Questions such as what ethical manufacturers can do to lower their impact and the challenges faced by Chinese eco-business is on the agenda. The event starts at 6.30pm and is held at the URBN Hotel.

SNACKS @ The Power Station of Art
This exhibition at The Power Station of Art showcases the unclassifiable ideas and experiences of diverse lifestyles in different places around the world. This exhibit is ongoing until October 16th and involves 38 artists, all connected by their involvement with the artist-designed magazine SNACKS since 2008. All works echo the a reflective nature combined with an unsophisticated and playful surface.

China International Fashion Fair @ National Convention and Convention Center
The second edition of the China International Fashion Fair, CHIC Shanghai will be held from October 11th to 13th at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre. This platform enables fashion brands to present their new collections and the Chinese trade will have a better overview on exciting new looks from around the world. Vendors from kids’ wear, fashion accessories, fashion services to leather wear will be present. The event runs from 10am to 6pm.
