A shocking video of a man violently attacking a woman as her kid looks on inside an elevator has gone viral online. The woman says the man was set off when she asked him not to smoke.
Surveillance camera footage from inside an elevator in Langfang, Hebei province on October 12th shows the man violently punching and slapping the woman upon stepping onto the elevator, not seeming to care that the woman was accompanied by her small child. The doors close and the woman tries to fight back, but is instead met by another barrage of blows. Eventually, she pulls out her smartphone and tries to record her attacker. The man flees, and the woman pursues, leaving the child stuck in the elevator alone.
The woman surnamed Li told police that the man became furious after she asked him not to smoke in the elevator for the sake of her kid. She said that she had never met a more savage person in her life.
More security cameras show the man running away from the scene of the incident. Police are currently trying to hunt him down.

The video has gone viral on Chinese social media, stirring up considerable outrage among netizens, many of whom are calling for an all-out “human flesh search” in order to uncover the man’s identity and bring him to justice and/or public shame.
Back in April, a surveillance video also went viral showing a woman being attacked and nearly kidnapped inside a Beijing hotel while multiple passersby noticed and did nothing. The incident spawned a series of staged videos starring women standing up for themselves in public places, including inside the elevator:
Unfortunately, it’s not always so simple in real life.
