Lotic @ The Shelter
Raised in Houston, Texas and now operating out of Berlin, Lotic is a resident at the city’s famed Janus parties. Having featured on Bjork’s recent sit-in for Rinse FM alongside a flurry of press attention, the stereotype-baiting producer made his first official outing with 2015’s Heterocetera EP on Tri Angle. His Berlin-via-Houston sound is ‘an apocalyptic mix of haunting synth melodies, destructive beats, and skewed experimental electronica’. Expect gut-wrenching bass, lurching hip hop rhythms, occasional shards of contemporary R&B splintered with tactile hi-hats. The show starts at 10pm at The Shelter, tickets are ¥80.

“How’s the Beast?” @ Power Station of Art
Eyal Weiser’s “How’s the Beast?” features three new fictional artists – a Polish choreographer, a German-Israeli artist, and an Israeli performance artist. Working against the backdrop of Operation Protective Edge, the artists each create an artwork in response to an article published in the summer of 2014 in a German newspaper, which expressed concerns regarding Israel’s policy in Gaza. Combining dance, video, and performance art and making use of a range of artistic tools and a special performative syntax, the three artists examine the normalization of relations among their countries, as well as the evolution of collective narratives following the Second World War. The show is available today at 2pm at the Power station of Art and tickets are ¥150.
