It’s never too late to learn. Take Zhang Guohan for example. He’s 88 years old and a new college graduate.
On October 21st, Zhang received his bachelor’s degree in Culture Industry Management from Jiangsu Open University, becoming the oldest graduate in Chinese history, Sina reports.
Also in Zhang’s graduating class was an 86-year-old man named Xu Hesheng. It’s no coincidence, they are two of the first graduates of a program offered by the university that tries to help elderly people in China continue their education, mostly by teaching them how to use a computer and smartphone. 17 other senior seniors also graduated, all with a degree in Culture Industry Management — whatever that is.
Jiangsu Open University was founded in 2012 and claims to have nearly 200 senior students. We can only imagine the crazy graduation parties that must have raged on into the evening last weekend.
For his part, Zhang said that his degree is an illustration of his lifelong love of learning.
Still, it’s unclear what exactly Zhang plans to do with his degree, we hear that the job market is really competitive out there right now.
