English actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer and all-around cool bloke Simon Pegg is ready to do what it takes to become a Chinese social media celebrity. Promising a nude pic when he hits 1 million followers on Weibo. Currently, he’s at 824,000.
Pegg’s fans are now counting down the days until he reaches that target:
“I will absolutely call me brother sister mother father grandmother cousin aunt uncle neighborhood teacher classmate boss colleague …… …. to follow you.”
“I hope u r a man of ur words. 1M followers on weibo is so easy. Can’t wait to see ur naki-d Body.”
Still, some believe that Pegg isn’t really planning on showing the goods:
“A picture of yourself when u were like 3 yrs old?”
“Don’t post one of your baby pictures! We want the real stuff!”
“No expectation since it will be deleted by Sina immediately…Too young too simple.”
It shouldn’t be too long before we find out if Pegg mans up or not. Back on September 21st he passed 100,000 followers, and posted a celebratory Chewbacca hug pic:
By October 12th, he had over 500,000. Celebrating once again by hugging Chewbacca.
Pegg both starred in and co-wrote “Star Trek Beyond.” The new blockbuster was released in China last month and he has been doing all that he can to promote the film on Chinese social media. On Monday, Pegg explained to his fans that while he doesn’t personally update his Twitter account, he does personally run his Weibo account.
Which goes a long way toward explaining why on September 8th, Pegg posted: “I said, ‘One day left but who’s counting?’ Damn it Google Translate can go and… 吮吸阴茎”
Pegg was trying to tell Google Translate to go and “suck a penis” after a previous post he had made in Chinese which was lost in translation.
One of his follower’s explained the error of his ways:
“I’m sure that you don’t know suck it or it sucks is not the dirty words in Chinese, so it just expresses the meaning of words. When you translate suck it or suck the dick into Chinese, what we see is just you want to SUCK DICKS in literal meaning lol. This post shock Chinese”
“Stop using google translation,” another fan suggested.
In the end, Pegg gained thousands of followers for the unfortunately translated post, just a few more of those and he’ll be at 1 million.
Earlier this month, Leonardo DiCaprio launched his own Weibo account, gaining over 1.2 million followers in two days. Unfortunately, this did not result in any nude pics, only memes.
