China’s leading animal welfare organisation, Animals Asia, is hosting a premiere gala Saturday Dec 3 at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. All proceeds from the event will go towards Animals Asia’s China Bear Rescue Centre in Chengdu and the organisation’s efforts to protect moon bears and end animal abuse.
The Blue Moon Gala will be an elegant affair to celebrate the lives of the rescued moon bears. You will feel enchanted by the gala’s theme – the forest, the natural home of the moon bear. The gala will be held in memory of Jasper the bear, who lived happily at the China Bear Rescue Centre for 15 years after a previous 15 years in a bile farm cage. Jasper, known fondly by his keepers as the “peacemaker,” became a global icon to end bear bile farming, and a beacon of hope for the thousands of bears still in cages across Asia. He passed away earlier this year at age 34.
Starting at 6.30pm and going till late, the gala will feature a free-flow drinks reception followed by a gourmet three-course vegetarian dinner. Animals Asia’s Founder, Jill Robinson will address the audience, followed by live entertainment, silent and live auctions, and a raffle. The live auction will feature designer items and custom experiences sponsored by international luxury names including Park Hyatt Maldives, Lightfoot Travel, Net-a-porter, and more. The silent auction and raffle will feature exciting items sponsored by local institutions such as Art Labor Gallery, PURE Yoga, and The Bivou, as well as international brands leading the movement in cruelty-free vegan design and art including Jo-Anne McArthur, Cri De Coeur, Dalia MacPhee, and Gunas New York.

About
Animals Asia was founded in 1998 by Jill Robinson and is now a respected major voice in animal welfare. The organisation works with the authorities and the wider community to bring about long-term change for animals.
Animals Asia’s main campaign is to protect moon bears by rescuing and rehabilitating bears from the bear bile industry which sees over 10,000 bears kept in deplorable conditions in China alone. The organisation’s bear sanctuary in Chengdu is the largest animal rescue centre in China and is currently home to over 100 bears. Between their two sanctuaries – in Chengdu and Tam Dao, Vietnam, Animals Asia has rescued over 580 bears since 1998.
