Shilin night market @ Jinjiang amusement park
Catch the last of the Shilin night market at the Jinjiang amusement park. This year, over 40 stalls are flown over from Taiwan and they’re selling all kinds of Taiwanese street food like fried chicken fillets, shaved ice and oyster omelettes priced between ¥10-25. This night market is ongoing until the end of October.

Lost in Shanghai’s Film World @ Shanghai Film Museum
Catch the last day of this exhibition by Shanghainese artist Li Shoubai exhibit ‘Lost in Shanghai’s Film World’ – showcasing around 100 of his work. This is by far the longest-running solo exhibit the artist has ever run. He will also showcase his painting and paper-cut works he has created over the past decade. The artist will be showcasing his most recent paintings, of which captures the city’s unique urban energy in the past and present. This exhibit attempts to recall the collective memories of the city’s past and evoke nostalgia in the audience. This event runs from 9am-5pm and entry fee is ¥60.

Swing Dance @ JZ Latino

Sun Kil Moon @ QSW Culture Center
Sun Kil Moon will play a long-awaited set of dates in China this year. On Tuesday night they will be performing at the QSW Culture Center. Their extraordinary music, driven by the powerhouse that is singer-songwriter Mark Kozelek, is a compelling series of tales both real and imagined – with observations, tragedies, and inanities compressed into unbreakable indie folk tunes. Expect a night of captivating collection of tunes, at once poignant and emotionally raw.

Melbourne Cup @ The Grand Kempinski Hotel
AustCham Shanghai partners with the Australian Shanghai Association (ASA) to invite you to the Shanghai Melbourne Cup 2016. The Melbourne Cup is Australia’s premier horse race and the richest handicap race in the world. Widely known as “the race that stops a nation”, the race is held on the first Tuesday of November every year at Flemington, Victoria. The ASA has hosted the Shanghai Melbourne Cup event since 1998 and it has become the day we “stop Shanghai!”. Apart from being a fun day out the Shanghai Melbourne Cup helps to raise funds for the Australia Shanghai Association’s nominated charities.

Emerging Curators Project @ PSA
Now in its third edition, the Emerging Curators Project at PSA invites young individuals and collectives from China or of Chinese descent to create an exhibition at the riverside spot. The Laboratory: experimental Burlesque & cabaret show @ The Pearl
Anna Fur Laxis & Ennis F.W. – the evil masterminds behind Qi-POW! Improv Festival @ Shanghai Comedy Club
Mark your calendar for the third Shanghai Improv Festival. This year, they have invited improv teams from all over the world – Australia, France, Germany, USA, Philippines, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and more. Shanghai Comic Con 2016 @ CECIS
Shanghai Comic Convention (SHCC) brings Chinese fans the coolest pop culture content, including comics, movies, TV shows, toys and video games. R3hab @ M2 Club
Fadil El Ghoul better known by his stage name R3hab, is a Dutch DJ and record producer of Moroccan origin. He is performing Saturday night at club M2 10pm onwards. Alongside Afrojack and Chuckie, R3hab is one of the proponents of the modern Dutch house sub-genre, although his style and sound at the time were usually darker, somewhat reminiscent of early psy-trance or gabber compositions.

Michael Rother @ MAO Livehouse
Michael Rother is a German krautrock musician, best known for being a founding member of the band Neu!, and as a short-lived member of the band Kraftwerk. On Sunday night he’ll be performing at MAO Livehouse for his China tour. Pre-sale tickets are ¥150 and ¥170 at the door.

Andy Warhol @ YUZ Museum
Yuz Museum is proud to organize for the first time in Asia, the Chinese premiere of Shadows by Andy Warhol: “a monument to impermanence” (Holland Cotter, New-York Times). Shadows is valued as the most mysterious work by Andy Warhol, the most influential artist of the 20th century, “the King of Pop”, that shows the unknown side of the artist. The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the globally acclaimed Dia Art Foundation, New York. It opens at Yuz Museum, Shanghai on Saturday, 29th October and lasts until December the 18th.

On the Stage of Life @ M97 gallery
From today until November 12th, M97 Gallery hosts an exhibition of a collection of vintage photographs from the fifties and 60s by renowned award-winning photographer Fan Ho. He has won 280 awards from international exhibitions and competitions worldwide since 1956 and is also a celebrated film directorand actor. Admission is free.
