Geng Jianyi Solo Exhibition @ OCAT Shanghai
“Stubborn Image – Geng Jianyi Solo Exhibition” remains on view at OCAT Shanghai till November 20. Artist Geng Jianyi presents new video installations produced in 2016. The works presented are aligned with Geng Jianyi’s attitude on making “non-artwork” throughout his artistic practice. Under the artist’s remodeling of the spaces, five types of handheld lamps and flashlights that function as projection devices transform the twenty-two built-in concrete pillars in the venue into reflective conduits of the videos, and the labyrinth-like makeshift walls separate these pillars. The viewing experience of this exhibition aims to provoke the viewer’s reflection on the liaison between everyday life, time, entirety and isolation.
