A 43-year-old woman in Anhui province has become a source of inspiration for many around China after images of her taking care of her paralyzed father went viral online over the weekend.
Lu Qinxia’s 83-year-old father became paralyzed earlier this year. Not wanting to see her dad just lie in bed all the time, Lu wraps her arms around the old man and takes him out for walks each day. The two take their time, moving slowly along Liangming Road in Hefei city, completing the 300-meter journey in over an hour. Lu helps her father make the walk three times every day, Sohu News reported.
Her father, Lu Zaifa, has four children but he lives with Qinxia, his youngest daughter, and her family. Qinxia’s family is far from wealthy. She and her husband work to support their two school-aged children. However, when her dad became paralyzed this past April after having a stroke, without a second thought, Lu decided to quit her job and take care of him full-time.
Each day, Qinxia needs to take her dad out for walks, feed him, bath him, give him massages and change his diapers. All of these tasks leave the mother with barely enough time to care for her own kids.
Qinxia was surprised to learn that she has become a hero online for her strong sense of filial piety, Chinese netizens have even dubbed her “China’s good daughter.” In response, she told reporters that her parents devoted their entire lives to raising her and her siblings, so now it’s her turn to take care of them.
“She wraps her dad in her arms to walk and doesn’t skip a single day. We men can barely do as well as she does,” a neighbor said about Qinxia.
