A dorm room interior design competition recently took place at Xihua University in Sichuan with one room designed in traditional Japanese-style winning the top spot, and quickly going viral online.
Room 254 was decorated by Weibo user @未负侠义 and her roommates. It features designs taken from “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” a tea table, four cushions and a wooden floor.
After photos of the room were posted onto Weibo, Chinese netizens promptly expressed their affection for the interior design and wished that their dorm rooms looked anywhere close to as good as that.
Still, the dorm room has a lot of competition when it comes to cozy dorm room designs nationwide. Last year, a group of students at a Hunan university converted their dreary dorm room into a comfy home. The year before that, a bunch of students at Jiujiang University in Jiangxi province pooled their money together and spent 1,200 yuan to pimp out their drab dorm room.
Does this Japanese-style design outshine them all?
Or maybe it’s missing something… what about a transparent bathroom?
