Meet Liu Miaomiao, a Shenzhen flight attendant who was recently awarded the prestigious title of the “world’s most beautiful stewardess” in a competition hosted by the World Air Stewardess Association (WASA) earlier this year.
Originally from Xi’an, Liu became a flight attendant for Shenzhen Airlines in 2010 after making her way through a series of stringent tests.
During the three-month orientation training period, Liu and her colleagues were required to balance bowls on their heads to develop perfect posture and bite down on chopsticks to practice the perfect smile.
Thanks to her skill and passion for the job, she was promoted to chief attendant in 2014.
In the hectic world of Chinese air travel, Liu has become a calm voice of reason. One time, a flight from Beijing was delayed, causing passengers to lose their temper, but Liu was apparently able to calm them down using her smile, China Daily reports.
At the end of the flight, some of the passengers even apologized to her for their bad behavior.
Liu told reporters that her job makes her feel proud, because she knows that with her professionalism she might inspire some boys and girls to become flight attendants when they grow up.
Btw, the World Air Stewardess Association is an “international and industrial legal coporate body and chartaible corporate body” that’s approved by the Hong Kong government. As far as we can tell, it mostly seems concerned with ranking airlines by how “beautiful” their flight attendants are. Shenzhen Airlines seems to be one of their favorites, ranking third in the 2012 list.
