Over the weekend, China welcomed the Year of the Rooster with its traditional mix of color, pageantry and explosives. Enjoy these pics from around the country.
Of course, there was also fireworks galore. As usual, Hong Kong’s fireworks game was on point.
And Beijing officials were once again unable to reign in the city’s firecracker fanatics. Soon after the clock struck midnight on the Lunar New Year, the city’s PM2.5 level soared to over 600 micrograms per cubic meter in some districts.
And so, we’d like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous Year of the Cock. Judging by Friday night’s Spring Festival Gala, it’s gonna be a weird year.
