The principal of a primary school in Shanxi province has been getting props from around the country and across the globe for changing up China’s stale old school exercise routine.
Video shows the 40-year-old principal, Zhang Pengfei, leading his students in a smooth shuffle dance that he learned in order to help keep the kids interested in staying fit. Over the past week, that video has gone viral on Chinese social media before also tallying millions of views on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
However, some are worried that all of this attention might end up getting Zhang into trouble. Chinese education authorities prescribe a rigid regime of calisthenics that all school’s across the country are supposed to perform each day. By busting moves outside on the athletics field, Zhang isn’t only breaking the internet, he is also breaking relevant regulations.
