Chinese armed police officers aren’t the only thing gathering symbolically in the city of Shenzhen at the moment, there’s also drones, spelling out a message of love and unity.
On Sunday night, as police and protesters clashed in bloody skirmishes on the streets of Hong Kong, 600 drones lit up the sky above Shenzhen Bay, assembling to form the characters “I <3 China,” “I <3 Shenzhen,” and “I <3 Hong Kong.”

It’s not clear what company or companies were responsible for the display which Chinese state media has credited with “sparking patriotic feelings amid rioting in Hong Kong.” Shenzhen is the drone-making capital of the world, home to industry leader DJI.
