While Chinese dormitories are not typically known for their splendor, one school across the strait in Taiwan has placed an emphasis on giving their students an actual liveable place to call home.
Feng Chia University in Taichung spent NT$1 billion ($33 million) renovating its formerly sparse and cold student dorms, turning them into “five-star” accommodations featuring clean kitchens, bathrooms, and privacy curtains for beds, according to a video from Yitiao.
One student described conditions in his dorm as being like living in a capsule hotel — a glowing review when compared with typical university accommodation. The school is even looking to test the waters with a new coed dormitory. Ooh la la!
